This piece titled “High On Light” was showcased at Grant MacEwan University in Allard Hall and was accepted into the Art Gallery of Alberta Society’s Emerging Artists exhibit in Calgary in 2022. It also was featured in a handful of art-focused events across Edmonton. The mixed media installation was created with sheer fabric hanging from a 20-foot ceiling draping around a wood sculpture with a light projector underneath. The installation was accompanied by Aphex Twin’s “Stone In Focus” which brought a calming atmosphere that drew the viewers into the center sculpture specifically, the changing colorful light that played with the fabric above it. Isabella created the artwork to be an immersive experience centered around sustainability and bringing light and presence to recycled objects, as the artist only used recycled and second-hand objects for the installation. The select few who were invited to experience this work commented on the comfort they felt in this space as well as the “other-worldly” feel of being in the presence of this piece. One viewer stated, “I feel like I’m being transported to another dimension, I could sit and stare at the changing light for hours”.
