Music/sound
Creating music has been a passion of mine since I was a little girl. Whether it was playing around with my mum’s guitar as a child, or messing around on an electric guitar with a distortion pedal in my teenage years, I’ve always turned to music as a form of solace and expression.
I got serious about creating music during the pandemic. Like most artists during that time, I used my boredom and seemingly endless amount of time to dive into the unfamiliar and teach myself new skills. For me, that looked like teaching myself guitar and moving to a little apricot orchard in California where I wrote my first songs on the guitar which I later recorded and released as part of my album ‘Afterglow’. After that chapter of my life came to a close, I traveled to West Virginia, Kentucky, and Tennessee to visit family and friends playing at little cafes and bars along the way. In the summer of 2022, I lived in central British Columbia along the Shuswap and played regularly at local pubs and cafes.
I am currently residing in Three Hills, Alberta, and am continuing to play at local venues and write new music.

Sound work
My love for audio is not confined to the limitations of music, and branches out to sound scapes and experimental sound projects as well. Here are a few examples of my work:

Artist Statement: Transformation of Faith
This sound project, created by Isabella Penner, features the enchanting vocals of her mother, Jodi Penner. It's a deeply personal reflection of the artist's faith journey, exploring how music connects her to spirituality. The project's foundation lies in the significant role her mother's music played in shaping Isabella's relationship with Christ during her childhood. Transformation of Faith is an immersive soundscape that traverses the boundaries of space and time. The audio, recorded in the caves of El Mirador Del Santiago De Chiquitos in Bolivia, captures Jodi's spontaneous, soul-stirring song. The natural acoustics, reverberations, and soothing water drops in the jungle palace create an eerie, mystical ambiance. This sound project is an invitation to step into the sacred, where faith, family, and nature converge. Let the ethereal sounds transport you to a shared space of wonder, contemplation, and spiritual connection.
